According to a report, Arsenal have completed a deal for Brazilian
starlet Wellington Silva.
Arsene Wenger has been scouting the youngster for over a year, and has
finally come to a £3.5 million agreement with his club Fluminense,
according to his agent Rodrigo Pitta, who said: "We completed the
transaction last week, the player is already Arsenal's and Fluminense
have already received some money."
Wellington is not allowed to actually move to London until he is 18
(in January 2011), but it seems that Arsenal have already paid 65% of
the fee in advance to stave off any future bidders trying to hijack
the deal.
As further confirmation the youngster posted a picture on his personal
website wearing an Arsenal shirt, although the club have yet to
confirm anything.
Wellington came to England for a trial with the Gunners a year ago,
scoring four goals in a youth game against Norwich, and he has been
followed by the Arsenal scouts ever since.
Manchester United, Chelsea, Atletico and Real Madrid have all been
linked with the player in the past.
