The Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) executive meeting held in New Zealand last week was attended by founder and presenter of Vanuafoot media programme Mr. Harry Atisson.
Vanuatu was chosen out of the 11 member associations of the OFC to present a report on the media status, and Vanuafoot was the topic of discussion in this high level meeting because the media programme has captured a lot of football interests and contributed to the development of football in Vanuatu today.
The presentation which highlighted the media roles, program schedules, language, as well as the scope of coverage in Vanuatu, has impressed the OFC executives.
OFC President, Mr. Reynald Temarii and his executives applauded the media program and congratulated Vanuafoot and Mr. Harry Atisson for taking the program to this level.
Vanuafoot with assistance of VBTC media, have started featuring live football coverage every Saturday on the national TV and radio, and also online with IT Assist ™. Paradise football is also a new radio program which is broadcasted daily on Paradise FM (FM 98).
Mr. Temarii encouraged other football media organisation in the region to build on example like Vanuafoot who have created a very good working relationship with their local media and has now become an important football media program in Vanuatu.
In response to the comments, Mr. Atisson also wishes to thank VBTC, Paradise FM and Daily Post for supporting the program and he believed other media organisations will join the campaign to promote football in Vanuatu.
Mr. Atisson is a former referee and has taken the role of Media and Information Officer for Vanuatu Football Federation last year 2009.
