Fenedy scored hat-tricks to create victory for Amicale

Academy F.C. started their NSL matches with a loss to Spirit 08 but then manage to put themselves together and held all their NSL matches against Tafea, Amicale, Tupuji and Spirit, to draws.

This afternoon, they played their first 2nd leg match and were defeated by 3 goals to 0 by superb hat-tricks from Amicale's own rocket, Fenedy Masauvakalo.

Amicale played well today with great performances from their experienced players having missed to convert easy goals and set a hard lock for the Academy to get through their defense but easily managed to cruise past the Academy's side to back their goals in.

What was expected of Academy turned out dull because they had no winning chances and it was Amicale in ball possession the full 90-minutes pressurizing the Academy defense that saw a young elite defender, Brian Kaltak was red card'ed after 2nd caution.

But Academy was quick to substitute to seal the loop holes and take the game to a final 3-0 with superb ball work and skills on an inclement weather condition.

Captain Fenedy Masauvakalo will be praised by his fans and Amicale fanatics for scoring all 3 goals against the young football scholars, and he sent the message out clear that they came to win and not draw again.

"I said to my boys, last time we draw against Academy, this time we must not allow them to deride us or be victorious, and the outcome is good", said Fenedy when he was interviewed by Vanuafoot. "I wish to thank God for the victory", he said.

Meanwhile, the 2nd match between Tafea F.C. and Spirit 08 was canceled by a decision from the match officials after consultations with the groundsman and PVFA of the poor pitch condition caused by bad weather.

In a later message to football fans, PVFA apologized to all and assured those who paid tickets to watch the two Southern Islands club, a free entry for all, for their re-match next week.

Day 2 NSL: Academy improves

Academy team have improved in day 2 of the NSL when they held current PVFA champion to a 2-2 draw.

Jean Kaltak open the score for Academy in the first half of the match but Fenedy equalizes later and Robert Yalou added another goal few minutes later, but Jean Kaltak responded with another great goal closing the scoreboard at 2 goals to 2.

It is an unfortunate moment for Amicale who are the tournament favorites to be treated to a draw by very young boys from Academy.

Vanuafoot spoke to the Academy side over their loss in day 1 to Spirit 08 and they pointed out few reasons but believe they have improved this week.

Meanwhile, the earlier match between Tafea F.C. and Spirit 08 saw the former blue color cruised past Spirit with 2 goals to 1 by goals from Joseph Tahumphrey, Jean Nakou Naprapol, Francois Sakama.

O-League matches rescheduled

The penultimate Match Day 6 of the 2010 O-League this weekend has seen scheduling changes for both Group A and Group B.

The crucial Group A match between defending champions Auckland City and Waitakere United, originally scheduled for Saturday 27 March, will now be played at 3:00pm on Sunday 28 March at Kiwitea Street to accommodate filming of the match on Triangle and Stratos Television.

Both teams are locked on 11 points but Waitakere have the upper hand with a superior goal difference and need only a draw to progress to the home and away final.

In the other Group A match, AS Magenta will host AS Manu Ura on Saturday 27 March as per the original schedule.

In Group B, the Tafea FC vs. Lautoka clash at Municipal Stadium in Port Vila will now be played at 3:00pm on Saturday 27 March instead of Sunday 28 March. OFC confirmed the rescheduling out of respect for the religious values of players, fans and organisers, many of whom have church commitments on Sunday.

Under competition regulations and in the interests of sporting integrity, the O-League fixture in Honiara (Marist FC vs. Hekari United) has also been amended to kick off simultaneously with the match in Vanuatu since the result of each match could determine the overall winner.

Group B is evenly poised with Hekari United, Tafea and Lautoka all in with a chance of advancing. Hekari will guarantee themselves a place in the final if they beat bottom placed Marist on Saturday while Tafea and Lautoka both need to win and hope the Papua New Guineans lose in order to progress.
